Christmas Cheer

For the last month or so leading up to Christmas morning, all Lil' Ed could talk about was a red motorcycle. But not just any motorcycle... it HAD to be red, it HAD to be like Uncle Cade's motorcycle, and Santa was definitely bringing it and it would fit down the chimney.

Fast-forward to Christmas morning. Santa did in fact make it to our house and leave a very large something assembled(sigh) in our family room near the fireplace. Well because of the odd shape of the "something," Santa chose not to completely wrap it, but instead simply covered it with a very large piece of wrapping paper.

The Lil' boy wakes up, we all go out to the family room, and instead of digging right in to the HUGE covered thing, he simply goes to his stocking and starts unwrapping stocking gifts. It wasn't until about 10 minutes into Christmas morning he decides to take a peak under the covered something. He stares under for about 10 seconds and then says, "HEY, that's a motorcycle!!" Realizing that this MUST be for him, he tears into the wrapping draped over the motorcycle and hops on straight away!!!

This little boy's pure innocence and delight truly made my Christmas. In fact him riding his little hog down the sidewalk the last few days and watching his delight every time has made my year. It's not the present specifically as much as it is my little boy... happy... growing... living... learning right in front of me. I am a lucky and proud daddy.

Date Night!!!

Last night Stace and I went on a MUCH needed date night. My mom is in town for the Christmas holiday and she so kindly volunteered to watch the boy. We've been down here in Houston for almost a year and have NEVER been on a date alone while living in this town. We've been fine with it for the most part, and I think that's what keeps us from actively seeking a babysitter... just no need. I mean we love going out as a family and have just not "needed" the "date night." I tell you what though, I can't speak for Stacey, but after last night, I'm ready to find that babysitter! In the day-to-day of life, you forget some of the reasons you married the person you're with. Obviously you love them and don't want to be without them, but you can sometimes miss that twinkle in her eye or soft touch... especially while you're helping a little guy color a picture or cool down his meal, lol.

At any rate, I had a really good night with my bride. It's not like we did anything majorly special (just dinner), but it was majorly special to me!

VETERAN'S DAY!!!

Let me start this blog by saying, I love Veteran's Day!! Not only because I'm married to an amazing USAF vet, but because I love the rush of feelings I get on days like today. Seriously. Even with our country in the state that it is in, it gives me so much pride to say I'm an American. And oh yeah, because of our amazing military men and women, I have the most freedoms in the world!! Man it's awesome!!

Let's talk about that "rush of feelings" for a minute. You know the feelings I'm talking about. It's that feeling you had when you got home from work on 9/11/01 and flipped on the TV and saw... you know. It's the feeling of excitement you get when you see your child so excited to see an "army guy." It's the feeling of pride when you hear the "sound of freedom" flying overhead. It's even the feeling of anger a lot of people get when they think about the wars we fight for reasons unknown. All feelings (and politcal views) aside, I must share something very extraordinary with you this morning.

I felt my first "rush of feelings" today at 6:25am this morning. I was heading out to work and of course I had to show my support for our Vets by putting out Old Glory. I put her up, and I am not lying when I tell you this (no matter how crazy you think I am)... I honestly believe that God must have felt the same rush I felt. I swear to you. Here's why... there was no wind this morning, it was calm outside, a million thoughts were racing through my head, and the clock was ticking as I was already running a bit late to work. I put her up there on our house, something I've done a lot in the past, but this morning was different. I put her up and just took a step back and stared. I swear to you, I stood there in the driveway looking at the red, white, and blue, and all of a sudden a very light breeze started to blow and she started waving in the wind ever so lightly. I felt such pride looking at her, and then I felt an amazing wave of peace. I was seriously probably only standing there for a minute, but my God it was beautiful. The neighborhood was dead silent. All was at peace. I felt everything, and yet I felt nothing too. It was like time stopped. All I could do was stand there in my driveway and give thanks to God for providing our country with the most amazing people in the world. People that sacrifice everything...for everything.

Alright, I know you're thinking that maybe I read this experience somewhere or something, but I swear on everything that this is as true as it gets. And now you're thinking that I'm crazy... I'm okay with that. There is no better way to start your day but by giving thanks and thinking about those in need and those that provide.

Thank You VETS!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

A shot of guilt?

About a month ago a clinic came to my office and gave the whole group flu shots for a nominal fee. I got one for the first time ever in my life and I feel good about. Yesterday we all get an email from the Ops Manager saying that the same clinic that did the regular flu shots now has a limited supply of H1N1 vaccines. Basically they're offering to come out again and give us all the H1N1 vaccines, again for a nominal fee. I've personally really been on the fence about the vaccine since it seems like they really rushed it through the process (which I guess was good), and I'm paranoid that it could cause "other" illnesses. Yeah, I know....eternally pessimistic.

Any how, my paranoia aside, I'm not sure my whole office of 50 people getting the H1N1 vaccine is...ethically right. I mean, this morning I open the paper and REAL BIG front page it reads..."H1N1 Vaccine Shortage!" Sigh...so maybe this is media hype/propaganda, but maybe it's not. See what I'm saying? If the 50 people in my office get it, that's 50 people (maybe little kids) that don't get it. In addition, they're talking about letting our families get the vaccines too, so then if you just throw another 50 people on top, well there's 100 people that don't get it that might actually need it. See where my guilt is coming from?

Ah well. Idunno what I'm going to do... whether I'm going to get it or not. My luck is that I won't get it and then contract swine flu and be outta luck. I don't pretend to be a brainiac, so maybe I'm missing the whole point here. Any comments or thoughts are appreciated.

Salsa

Today Stacey and Lil’ Ed came and met me for lunch and we went to a Mexican restaurant. We were finishing up and Lil’ Ed was messing with the little dish of salsa. So I told him that he should drink the salsa. Without missing a beat, he said,”Noooooo… I only drink water… and coke… and milk… not sauce, daddy.”

He is just so hilarious lately. The things our kids’ little minds can process and come up with is just incredible. He makes us smile uncontrollably every day.

I CAN'T TAKE IT ANY MORE!!!!

For 9 months I've been swallowing complete swill in the form of coffee here at my office. This morning I could not just sit here and take it any longer. After the first disgusting sip, I stood up, walked to my car, and went to the Quik-E-Mart for caffeinated delight.

The whole trip took less than 5 mins, but the utter delight and satisfaction I will feel the rest of the morning... priceless. Going forward, the solution is programming our coffee maker to brew in the morning so I can hit the road with some.

Sigh... good times this morning.

PS....for our friends who don't drink coffee, well, I do. That is all. lol

WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT!!!???

This morning around 2am we were awoken by a HUGE...HUGE booming sound and flashes of light. To give you an idea of how loud this sound was, I'm a pretty sound sleeper and don't wake up very easy. So I wake up with a jump and a start, Stacey wakes up too and I ask her, "What the heck was that...OMG?" We realize it is starting to thunder and storm outside. Right about the time I'm thinking that "man, this is going to be a big storm, I wonder if Lil' Ed woke up," I hear him in his room starting to cry. So I run in there and grab and tell him it's okay, and of course he can sleep in our room. Right about the time we get him all settled, it starts to DUMP! And not just a short little stint of heavy rain, I'm talkin' truckloads of water, thunder crashing, lightning flashing... all the good stuff you see on the Weather Channel. So, we all go back to sleep to the sound of STORM!

I woke up around 5am to get ready for work, and no more rain, streets are fairly dry, and I didn't even have any rain on the way to work. Strange weather. The good news is that the temperature was in the 60's and I drove to work with the windows down. Love it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... everything's bigger in Texas! It's true!

Working on Our Laptops

I'm sitting here in the family room just messing around on my laptop and watching the Office. Lil' Ed went and got his laptop and said, "Daddy, I need to work on my laptop too, daddy."

So we're sitting here just hangin' out while mommy is at school. It's like the lobby of a Starbuck's on a weekday morning around here, lol. He's a good little boy. We're not necessarily talking or doing anything physical with each other, but this moment is... special. Sometimes it's the silent blessings that can light up the room; our hearts.

Weekend Stuff

Another fabulous weekend down here in the lone star state. Started off... interesting. I found out the second food item that my beautiful, smart, funny, amazing bride cannot cook. For those that don't know, frozen lasagna is the first. Long story, but I found out when we first started dating that Stouffer's lasagna is not Stacey's friend in the kitchen. So Friday she tells me she has these chicken legs that she needs to cook and she's "going to attempt to fry them" I'm thinking, cool. I mean every time we go back home to visit her family her grandma makes us the family secret recipe fried chicken, so one of these times she had to of written down the recipe/process. Well, long story short, the breading was good, chicken appeared cooked, but inside...sigh, blood. Not like gushing, but any tiny bit, and I'm grossed out. So yeah, the second thing the love of my life cannot cook is, fried chicken. No worries, there's always KFC. Then after dinner Lil' Ed and I played a little Wii... I actually got him to do some bowling with me! He's awesome. Then everyone went to bed and then I started watching the first season of Sons of Anarchy. Well I went into it figuring I'd watch a couple, yeah know, just scratch the surface and watch the whole thing over then next couple of weekends. Well lemme just say, it pulls you in. I watched 7 episodes and stayed up 'til 3am. Worth it. It's awesome. It's the Sopranos on choppers. OH, we decided to have Lil' Ed sleep in just his undeez Friday night. He tried his hardest but ended up wetting the bed around 2a. No biggie... cleaned him up, got him back to bed.

So then Saturday I slept in 'til 8:15am, got the trash out and started the day. Lil' Ed and I played some more Wii bowling before breakfast. Stacey made us eggs, potatoes, and bacon. MMM-mmm!! Then Stacey did some school work and did some stuff around the house. And oh yes, my life changed forever. We went to the Sprint store and I got a Palm Pre. Dude, I'm not saying it's the best phone/device ever... out there on the market. But dang. I am just so impressed with technology now. It's just hard to believe all of the THINGS you can do on and with something so small in your hand. It's pretty sweet, for sure. Then the rest of the night we just hung out...oh, I finished watching the first season of Sons of Anarchy. Awesome. Can't wait to see this week's new episode. The crowning acheivement of Saturday was Lil' Ed waking up with dry pants! He went to bed with just his undeez again, and around midnight I heard someone in the bathroom...it was Lil' Ed going potty!!! And then he woke up dry the next morning!! What an awesome kid!!! Things are finally happening in the potty training department. sigh....

So here we are on Sunday. Another great day. Went to church, heard a great sermon, then went to the weekly Chinese buffet...awesome. And then we went to a small VW Bug show a few miles from our church. Lil' Ed liked it....I guess it was pretty cool. Just not as big as ones I've been to in the past. Now we're just hanging out watching football and such. I'm trying to convince Stacey to make us some dinner.....it's not working out very well. LAME!

Oh well......

Get Out the Paddles Honey, This One's Outta Control!

It is raining....H-A-R-D here this morning. I sucked it up and drove super slow all the way to work, but dang! I was white-knuckle for 50 minutes this morning. We could definitely use this rain, but does it have to come down so hard...for so long? LOL! But no, it's pretty awesome. Lots of thunder and lightning and such. And my grass could always use the free sprinkling!

Weekend Fun

We got this last weekend started off right by going to the drive-in with our friends, The McCulloughs. They have two little boys around Lil' Ed's age so it's always fun to get together. They've been going to this drive-in for a while and introduced us to it, and I must say I am now a fan of the drive-in. In Vegas I wasn't such a fan because well, based on the surroundings, there was always a good chance of getting mugged or shot. But this place was nice. It's almost like some farmer had 50 acres along the highway he didn't know what else to do with, so he built a drive-in movie cinema! We saw Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, which was cute. The boys all liked it and didn't act up too much, if at all.

Then Saturday was another great day. Since I was sick last weekend, and then the weekend before that we were out of town, the lawn was looking pretty ragged. So I got out there early and got all the weeds pulled, lawn cut, edges edged, watered, etc. Lil' Ed helped out too. It was funny though, because around 10:30am Stacey's friend picked her up to go to a "Scentsy" party so it was just us boys left working around the house. Well we're about halfway done with the backyard when I see Lil' Ed throw down his mower and storm over to the patio. I go ask him what's up and he says, "Daddy, I don't like mowing any more...I done." So I said it was okay and sent him in to watch Fireman Sam. But the whole time I'm comforting him and telling him he doesn't have to help any more, I'm thinking, "In a few years this conversation is going to go A LOT different." "Man, dude, dad. Cuttin' grass sucks! I wanna get outta here and go hang with my friends!" "As soon as you're done you can go. The longer you take the less time you'll have. And oh yeah, take out the trash too!" LOL.....sigh... Any who, then Saturday night we went to our favorite fat factory, The Chocolate Bar. This place is amazing. Fresh chocolate...everything! It was nice to spend some time with just the wife and boy.

Sunday was another winner. We didn't make it to church because Lil' Ed has had the sniffles and Stacey's neck was hurting her pretty bad too. So we laid low for the monring, then went to our favorite Chinese food buffet for lunch. OH YEAH, I FINALLY got my wireless router to work too!! What a great day it was indeed!!

Any who, we had a good weekend. Nothing counts more than family time and sharing some laughs. I think that's what I love the most about my little family. We have good laughs...not just a chuckle once in a while. We can laugh at each other. We can make each other laugh. We can laugh about each other. We laugh. It's fun!

It's Been A While...

Well sports fans, where do I begin...or start? How about this. How about I give you a list of everything that has been going on in the last month or so and you can comment as you see fit.

- August 1st: Lil' Ed gets a new bunk bed. Stacey's dad and stepmom come into to town to visit us.
- August 2nd: Stacey wakes up early morning with severe abdominal pain. We rush to hospital, later in afternoon she has her appendix taken out.
- August 8th: We drive to McKinney (Dallas) to celebrate Stacey's stepmom's birthday with friends and family. We eat at an awesome steakhouse called The Keg.
- August 13th: I take the day off from work because this is going to be an awesome day! This is the day we get to find out the gender of our new baby! This day ends up being pretty stressful. We go to the ultrasound and not only is the tech only 90% sure we're having a girl, she finds that the fluid levels are too low. So, we then go to a specialist across town. The funny part of this is the tech at this specialist, he says we are having a girl. Stacey asks if he's sure, he says, "I am never wrong." LOL. All said and done, although fluid levels are low, the specialist says things look good and she is not worried about anything.
- August 14th: We go shopping for baby stuff and Lil' Ed gets a new pair of "church" shoes that he insists on wearing the rest of the day.
- August 15th: We go out to dinner with the McCullough family at a new latin restaurant, then head back to our place for some much needed kareoke, lol
- August 16th: Go to church in the morning, then to our favorite Chinese food buffet, and then I have to drive up to Dallas for a business meeting first thing Monday morning. Wasn't too excited about the drive, but all turned out very well.
- August 17t: I spend the day in Irving (Dallas) in a business meeting and end up having dinner at a pretty sweet restaurant called Bella's. Good atmosphere, good food, good company, and good times. We drive back to Houston after dinner and I don't get home until 1am...nice.
- August 18th: I sleep in a wee bit and decide to work from home. I sit down at my computer at around 815am when Stacey calls me. She had gone to her OB for a baby check-up. She's crying. It's bad news... they can't find the heart beat. I drop everything and rush to be with her (and Lil' Ed). This day ends up being a pretty decent day. I think it really gave Stacey and me a chance to sit back and just be together. Talking. Looking. Holding. Together. This day no doubt sucks, but as they say, sometimes tragedy can bring about good stuff. Stacey's mom and sister Leslie decide that they are flying in to be with us for support.
- August 19th: We go to a pre-OP appointment at the hospital where Stacey gets blood drawn and preliminary paperwork done. Stacey's mom and sis fly in and we have a good dinner at Papacito's.
- August 20th: The final procedure is done. As sad as this day is, it brings some closure and en ending to the drama and pain we'd been feeling for 2 days.
- August 23rd: Stacey's mom and sis fly out of Houston.
- August 24th: I go back to work.
- August 25th: Stacey starts taking some college classes that ol' Uncle Sam is paying for! WOOOT!!!!
- August 29th: Lil' Ed and me fly to Las Vegas to visit my family! We spend the next few days enjoying our time with Auntie Liss, Ninny, and Grandpa Ted, and of course Cowie. Saw a lot of old friends and missed a lot too. I decide that next time I need a full week and a rental car.
- September 3rd: Lil' Ed and me fly to Oakland to meet up with Stacey who has also flown in to visit with her family! Jolly times are had by all for the next few days and I even got to see a movie...in a theater!!! The boys are just nuts when they're around each other. Sometimes you just gotta sit back and wonder, was that us? Good Lord!!!
- September 7th: We fly back home to Houston. We get in kinda late so we grab a Jack-in-the-Box midnight snack. Right before I go to bed I realize I've lost Lil' Ed's birth certificate. Long story in itself....all you need to know is that we ended up finding....WHEW!!!
- September 8th: Back to work and school. Season 5 of The Office comes out on DVD....no, I have not purchased it yet. Sigh. OH YEAH, we find out that my boss (who works out of Colorado) and his wife have twin baby girls! I guess they were keeping it a secret because it was a trying pregnancy, but all is going well!

So that's basically it. We've just been living the dream. heh....life has definitely thrown us some curveballs lately, but you know what? I like it. I truly believe that there is a bigger plan and everything is working just the way it's supposed to. Like I told Stacey, there is no other person in this world that I would want to go through my troubles with. And no other little boy can make me smile and laugh like Lil' Ed. Yup, we are living the dream!!

Oh Come on! That is funny on SOME level!! Sigh.....I know, I know. The blog has reached a new low. I'm sorry fans. sigh.

Long Couple of Days

What was meant to be a great visit with Stacey's father and step-mother ended being some of the scariest moments of our marriage. This is going to be lengthy, but I'm going to spill it as it happened, according to me. No paragraphs or mumbo-jumbo...I'm just going to spill it out. So here goes...

Saturday afternoon Stacey's father and step-mother arrived at our house here in Houston and all was gravy! We had some good conversation and even better, I made some awesome tri-tip on the barbie! Went to bed, all was good. Around 2am Stacey wakes me asking if my stomach was hurting. I said no and she said hers was hurting so bad it woke her around 1am. Of course I asked the usual questions... you think it's gas? You think it's, ahem, solids? You think food poisoning? And after all of the answers were no, I had to ask the question I dreaded most... Do you think it's the baby? She said she wasn't sure, but she knew for sure it wasn't gas or bad food. After I asked if she wanted to go to the hospital and about another half hour of excruciating pain for her, she decided she needed to go to the ER. Thank God her parents just arrived in town so we could leave Lil' Ed in their care. Sounds silly i guess, but it's almost like this thing was put on hold until we had people near us to be our safety net. Any how, we made it to the ER at 3:10am. The whole time Stacey's abdomen is just killing her, and now it's bringing her to tears. After one episode of vomiting and 2 hours of what I can only imagine was some of the worst pain she's ever felt, we finally got in to an ER room. Just to be clear, the 2 hour wait bugs me because the waiting room only had like 2 other people in it when we got there....sigh. Skip ahead... they give her Tylenol for pain and a little while later her blood work and ultrasound results comes back. The results are kind of inconclusive, but they firmly believe it is gallbladder, appendix, or kidneys. Which was kind of good news because we definitely did not want to hear it was the baby making an early appearance (Stacey's 16 weeks at this point). So, they decide to put her in "ER observation" and want her to meet with a surgeon and her OB. Finally we decide that I can run home, shower up, and bring the rest of the family. I think at this point it's around 11am. We get back to the hospital around 12:30pm/1pm. After a little visiting and more blood tests, the surgeon comes in and tells us that Stacey's white count is elevated and the pain is in such a place that they believe it is her appendix. He decides he wants to go in via laproscopy and have a look around...and oh yeah, he's going to take the appendix too. What choice did we really have? If it turned out to be the appendix and it burst, well we'd have a bigger mess on our hands. He assures us it is not an uncommon deal and they are very sensitive to the pregnancy. We agree to the "surgery" and literally 30 mins later Stacey was upstairs getting prepped. I guess we were just super impressed with the O.R. team because they were literally waiting on us, and not the other way around. When the surgeon walked out, Stacey said "I bet it will be another hour before they come and get me." Glad she was wrong. So she goes into the O.R., and I have to admit that there is nothing more sobering than to see the person you love most get wheeled into the O.R. I just felt completely alone. This is the person I have devoted everything to, not to mention another little life that was created from complete love. I mean, everyone told me it is one of the most common procedures and would literally only take around 30 mins to complete, but it doesn't make it any easier. Stacey's dad was there with me the whole time while Mary and Lil' Ed went to get burgers for us. We made small talk and glanced at magazines in the waiting area, but I think that was the longest 30 mins I've ever had. Luckily I had a Big Mac to comfort me, lol. After almost 30 mins to the moment, we get a call that everything is great and the surgeon is coming out to speak with us. He comes out and actually has some awesome pics of Stacey's insides. REALLY good quality pics...I wish I could post them on here, lol! Turns out, it was acute appendicitis. Funny thing though, the doc shows me the pic of her appendix and says, "See how inflamed it is right there." I nod my head and say, " oh wow, that is inflamed." Really though, I have no idea what I'm looking at. It could have been a picture of his Caribbean vacation and I wouldn't have known different, LOL! So, they they decide that since she is pregnant they are going to keep her overnight, possibly a couple of days to observe her and make sure everyone involved are recovering as expected.

All said and done, Stacey's down an appendix, the baby is doing good, i was able to bring my bride home on Monday night, and besides her being really sore, things are getting back to "normal." After a long couple of days, we are basically breathing a sigh of relief. Well I am. Like I said, that feeling of losing "your life" is never one you want to feel more than you need to. Lil' Ed was of course a great comic relief through this whole thing. When we came to visit mommy on Monday morning, we stopped at the store to pick out some flowers. Sigh...the boy has good taste and picked out some flowers that were more than I wanted to spend (LOL....yes, I'm a complete cheap-skate!!!). So when we get to the hospital I let him carry in the flowers/vase. In his excitement I guess he forgot there was water in the vase and tossed the flowers/vase on the bed next to mommy. sigh....crazy kid.

Any how, thanks to all who kept our little family in your prayers and thoughts. Lord knows we greatly appreciate the support. Let's just hope we don't need this kind of support any time soon!

I SO ‘CITED!

I just have to drop a quick line about how excited I am getting for a REAL vacation coming up the first week of September. Not only is it going to be awesome to have a FULL week off, but we are going back to Vegas (for my family) and then on to the Bay Area (for Stacey’s family). We talk to our family all the time on the phone and computer, but you can never replace face-to-face time. The only HUGE bummer of the trip is that Stacey will not be joining me and Lil’ Ed in Las Vegas due to her new school schedule. But, I’m also kinda excited about this because this is going to be the first time Lil’ Ed and I will be truly on our own without Stace for more than a few hours…….DUDE’S VACATION!!!! WOOOT!!!! Heh….

Any who…

Who Does This, and WHY?? UGH!!

First off, let me just say that if you are a culprit of what I am about to speak of....shame, SHAME!

Today I was sitting here at my desk and I start hearing... "click (pause) click-click (pause) click (pause-pause) click-click-CLICK!!" And then I guess a couple more people were reminded that they forgot to maintain themselves this morning before they left the house and started clicking away too! That's right, three separate people were clipping their finger nails...AT WORK!!

So here's the question: When did it become acceptable to clip your fingernails at work? I mean seriously. When did this ritual of hygiene move from your bathroom (or simply your home) to public places/work? You sit down at your desk, you log in to your computer, and oops...forgot to clip my fingernails. Better do that now. To me, this is like clipping your hair out in public. I mean you don't grab a pair of scissors and just start clipping away. And if you do, the words "Hair Stylist" follow your name on official documents and you keep it centralized to a little place called a "hair salon." I'm waiting to be walking by someones desk and see them with their shoes off clipping their toe nails! Obviously there are acceptable exceptions to the public nail clipping though. I mean I guess if you are alone in an office... or you work on a construction site... or the only other beings in the room have four legs or something. Other than that, these people should get a clue that hygiene belongs in private.

Please friends of blog-world, set me straight on this. Am I the crazy one (don't answer that)? sigh.....

Stay tuned for an updates on toe nail clipping and a future blog on Lil' Ed's first Circus experience!! Until we meet again in cyber space... Ed2 (making purple backgrounds manly)

Heh!

Early this morning I woke myself up by laughing in my sleep. I was having a good dream and I was laughing. Ed was already awake getting ready for work and he said 'are you OK?' I said 'what's wrong?' and he said 'you laughed or something.' I think it is pretty neat that I was so happy in my dream it came out for real!

I love this day.

Today is wonderful. I woke up to lil ed getting in our bed...He just needed to crawl over me to get to daddy. Then they quietly leave the room and come back with presents. Lil ed picked out my card. Him and Ed went to the store and looked at mothers day cards and Lil Ed didn't find anything he liked. Then He found a card in the birthday area. Ed tried to talk him out of it but lil ed said mommy LOVES mickey mouse. (I don't love him...Lil ed watches it on t.v. sometimes.) So I got a cute happy birthday card. Then we got ready and went to this yummy breakfast place. It is called La Madeline. After that we stopped by a farmers market that reminded me of the fruit stands back home. There's this place called Food Town. A pretty low class supermarket. Normally I would NOT shop there. (because I am a snob) However they had a smokin' deal on produce. Potatoes, onions and cabbage for 15 cents/lb. You can't beat that with a stick!! I was so happy to have found this deal. So I sucked it up and went in. It wasn't as horrible as I thought. Most of the items were labeled in Spanish. I was a Spanish I dropout. Therefore I pretty much stuck to the produce. Where else can you go to get Nacho Cheese by the bucket?! (no we didn't buy it). Lil Ed keeps climbing up on our desks to be in the mix. He can be annoying when he is all up in my business like that so Ed took a T.V. tray to the garage and turned it into a desk for lil ed. He said 'I love my desk, daddy. I so sited' (that is lil ed for excited) He sat there and played on his VTech computer for a bit. Ed has made this day really special for me. And listening to lil ed say Happy Mothers day really made me smile.

Now I am off to make cabbage soup!

*SIGH*

This is what happens when you check your email or facebook and your 2.5 year old is being quiet in the other room. Lip stick and lotion EVERYWHERE! But it was hard to stay mad because I put him in his room (after cleaning him up) and when he came out he instantly said 'sorry mommy for ruining your chap stick'

The bigest box ever

Tuesday night we had our treadmill delivered. Lil Ed was super excited about the biggest box ever. He kept asking Ed to open the box. Ed moved the box to our room (where the treadmill was to be set up) and it was really heavy. Lil Ed took notice of this and repeatedly told Ed 'you are strong daddy' 'you are so strong'. It was pretty neat to see Lil Ed be proud of his strong daddy. Then we made a fort out of the boxes.

Water Hose Fun

This is how we spend mornings in Texas. I water my garden and my herbs then Lil Ed takes control of the hose.

Monday, May 4, 2009

Its a Sunday afternoon, Lil Ed just went down for a rest, Ed is in the backyard getting ready to mow and I settle into the couch with a new book. I hear Ed banging on the back door to 'come here'. I go out and he found a turtle in our backyard! It looked like the kind people have for pets.

So I go inside and get him some lunch. He didn't eat. He ran off. Ed said the celery made the mower smell good though.

We got a pool. A medium sized one. Lil Ed got some floaties. He loves them and this is his swimming pose. He said that grandpa can come and swim in his pool. (must have remembered swimming in grandpas pool)

Lil Ed is such a big boy now. He wanted to make his own Peanut Butter sandwich. A little lizard that hangs out in the backyard and eats bugs.
He is helping himself to some cheese. He can barely reach!
Yesterday we had a crazy rain/thunder/lightning storm that lasted through the night. Our street was pretty flooded; about a foot of road was all that was left in the middle of the road. Three this morning we woke up to THUNDER and the brightest lightning I have ever seen. Ed went in late to work today because the roads are covered in water! There are many overfull bayous that all feed into one area down in Houston so there are evacuations in that area. We are safe up here!

Yesterday Lil Ed and I went to the park. We played and swung on the swing, went down the slide and ran through the grass. We stopped to take a break under a shade tree and we were just taking in the nature. Lil Ed said 'mommy lets pray' I said 'well go ahead, buddy' so he said 'Heavenly Father thankful for -what else mommy~ well what are you thankful for- thank you for daddy and mommy say things in Jenus name amen' My little man felt the need to talk with Heavenly Father and he did. What a wonderful feeling that came over me and just put me in a wonderful mood.

Gardening Gloves

Last week I was outside with lil ed and Icouldn't stand looking at weeds anymore. SO I got my gloves out and started pulling weeds. Lil ed was helping by pulling grass and what not but I told him he couldn't help with the weed cause they are pokey. He said I need gloves like you but itty bitty. I said yes buddy you need little gloves. So last night we went to target for some stuff and he said mommy I need itty bitty gloves like you. (how did he remember?) I bought him some gloves and this am he HAD to wear them. All his fingers went in the right spots too.
